Scope and Contents
The Margaret I. Cockcroft Reed Papers consists of correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, programs, magazines, and articles. This collection is arranged in 18 separate folders. Each folder has been distinctly separated based on the correspondences, news clippings, photographs, and so on. The correspondences are primarily from the 1950’s-1980 after Margaret Reed’s dancing career had ended. The scrapbook, photographs, autograph book, and paramount magazine are from the 1930’s while Margaret Reed was a showgirl on Broadway. The items in the collection are from Margaret Reed and are primarily items that she collected or received. The correspondences are those that her and her husband both received, also including the thank you and get well soon cards.

Biographical or Historical Information
Margaret Reed a guidance counselor and dance instructor at Indiana State also graduating from Indiana State Teachers College with her husband Walter Reed. Margaret Reed was a Broadway showgirl that was featured in the New York Journal featuring exercise to strengthen abdominal muscles in January of 1933.
