The Personal and Political Records subgroup include series of files that reflect the political and personal activities of John T. Myers. The material documents Myers' 15 successful campaigns from 1966 through 1995. Campaign Files 1994 are artificially created from unfoldered documents. The VIP Correspondence is original documents selected from other file series throughout the collection that has been replaced with photocopied reproduction. VIP Correspondence and First Day Covers are RESTRICTED.
The Legislative Record subgroup contains memoranda, correspondence, drafts of legislation, statements, Congressional Record excerpts, Dear Colleague letters, and committee activity and research, and voting records. This subgroup contains a wealth of information about the bills supported by John Myers over his lengthy career in the 7th District of Indiana. The Energy and Water Subcommittee series contain a vast array of research materials on nuclear energy and projects of the Army Corps of Engineers.
The Media Record subgroup contains a diverse assortment of media that encompasses the technology of the 1960's through the mid 1990's. Audio-Visual Media and Photograph series are unprocessed. Press Releases and Newspaper Clippings have been left in their original order.
The Constituent Service Record subgroup represents the heart and bulk of the collection. The Congressional Project series represent the personal and public casework of the Seventh Congressional District. This series has been arranged by subject categories. The Constituent Correspondence series represents the issue mail of the Seventh District constituents and the official replies of the Myers office. This series is arranged by year, then broken down by subject, and issue. The Service Academy Files and Screen Board Files Series are restricted. Both of these series show the involvement of John Myers and the Military Academies in the Seventh District.
The Office Administration Records Subgroup contains documents that show the routine operation of the Washington DC and District Offices. The Administrative Assistants Series is restricted.
